Anyone that knows me well know that I quote Trevor Noah on a daily basis and I love his work and jokes and face. You can just imagine my delight when I finally got my hands on his book Born a Crime. I decided to read it on my 3 connecting flight to Canada this past December and I was this weird and strange person on the airport crying and laughing uncontrollably while reading Trevor’s autobiographical comedy.
This is such an inspirational book and I promise you will not be able to put it down. You will laugh, cry, get mad and just go on an emotional roller coaster and you’ll learn more than one life lesson from Trevor’s mom and the way she lives her life. Trevor is a remarkable writer and he’ll take you on a journey through his life and inspire you with the way her used humour (and still do) to get him through the tough times. This is a spectacular book and anyone that has ever felt out of place or like an outsider will resonate with it. Trevor and his mother will inspire you to look at the brighter side of circumstances and find the humour in hard times. Trevor’s book will give you a new perspective and a closer look into racism and apartheid and how it influenced every aspect of his daily life.
Trevor recently posted that his book will be turned into a movie and that his superhero-mother will be played by none other than Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o!!! (Where can I pre-book my movie tickets??) 😉
